Cindy Stovall, RN is the March, 2011 DAISY Award recipient. Cindy joined All Children's Hospital in 2002 as a nurse in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). She moved to her current position in the Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) in 2006. She holds a bachelor's degree from Memphis State in Health Care Administration.  The DAISY Award is presented monthly to an All Children's Hospital Nurse that has provided extraordinary service to our patients.

A parent recently wrote:

My 16-year-old son has had three procedures for kidney stones since 2010.  Each time, Cindy has been one of our nurses.  Not only does she show compassion and caring towards my son, but she also explains everything to us in detail and answers all of his questions (he asks many). 

The night of our first procedure, we were going to be getting home after 10 pm.  We had been in the hospital for hours. I was really tired, my son was still feeling groggy, and we needed his medicine.  Cindy was concerned that he should get his meds and went online to find the nearest pharmacy that was open 24 hours.  It all worked out in the end and we really felt she went that extra mile. 

Each time we are at the hospital she remembers us and specific details about my son, including his job, how long he has worked, his interests, etc.  She is just really special and makes us feel special. Cindy is also really funny, and laughter is the best medicine!

"When I first read the nomination letter, I wasn't a bit surprised," said Bonnie Baker, RNC, MS, Assistant Department Director for Perioperative Services. "Cindy is a caring and compassionate nurse who goes above and beyond to console and comfort her patients and families in the PACU setting. She has received several kudos from patients and families over the years which further validate the attention and quality of care she provides in patient/family encounters. I am proud to have Cindy on our team. She is an asset to Perioperative Services."
