Tracey Dahill is the August 2010 All Children's Hospital Employee of the Month.  Tracey is an RN II in Surgery and has been with All Children's since 1995.  A patient and her family recognized Tracey's Service Excellence and nominated her for Employee of the Month honors.  The family said:

Our nine year old daughter had surgery scheduled. The day before her surgery Tracey called to ask if we had any questions.  Mystery to us our daughter had many questions despite our previous attempt to prepare her for surgery.  Tracey spent 15-20 minutes on the phone to answer each and every one of our daughter's concerns.  We didn't realize how anxious she was until we heard the conversation.  By the time our daughter hung up she was at peace about her upcoming procedure.  The following day she asked if she could meet nurse Tracey.  Once again Tracey went above and beyond to encourage our daughter and said she would check back after her surgery.  Tracey played a game with our daughter and told her she wouldn't make it to "three" when counting [when receiving anesthesia].  After her surgery our daughter asked for nurse Tracey again so she could tell her that she won their game.  Tracey is an amazing asset to the ACH team!" 

The patient said:

Nurse Tracey is like no other nurse I've ever had!  She is the one who made me feel that I wanted to have surgery instead of not wanting to.  I wish that every one could be as thoughtful, nurturing, and funny as nurse Tracy.  She made a bet with me and said I wouldn't make it to three.  And, she gave me a pen that made me smile all the way home.  Nurse Tracey is the best!  I love nurse Tracey!  Thanks for impacting me and making me want to be more like you! 

Tracey's Department Director added:

Tracey's ability to be a compassionate advocate for our patients is evident in all that she does.  She will work tirelessly to ensure that each patient receives the information they need for their surgical procedure and Tracey will also ensure that our medical team receives the information they need to ensure the best positive outcome.  I have personally heard phone conversations that Tracey has with parents and patients and her ability to educate is outstanding.  No matter how busy she is or how stressful the day is Tracey always remembers why we are here - for the patient and family.  I am so glad Tracey has been recognized by this family, although this is only one of thousands of patients and families she assists with her wonderful attitude of Service Excellence!
