| Mike Sexton recipient of 2009 Global Award for Body Toonups |
Many hospital employees and their families are familiar with the musical plays Mike co-wrote and produced along with former Foundation Executive VP Joel Momberg. Aimed at school-aged kids, the plays impart important health and safety messages through song and skits. In 2008, several songs from those plays were produced as animated cartoons through a generous grant from Kohl’s Department Stores. It is these “Body Toonups” cartoons that garnered a 2009 Global Award. The Global Awards are the world's largest and most coveted healthcare communications awards - the only ones dedicated to the recognition of excellence on an international basis. The winners’ list reads like a “who’s who” of major advertising and marketing agencies in New York City, across the United States and numerous foreign countries. The Globals receive entries from healthcare corporations, hospitals and education groups as well as from advertising agencies, design studios and production companies. The result is an unparalleled combination of medical, pharmaceutical and general health-related marketing messages to be judged. All entries are judged by a panel of international industry experts, representing the top creative minds in the field of healthcare advertising. This year, over 200 agencies and production companies, representing over 20 countries, submitted their work in the competition. Over 60 healthcare communication agency executives participated in the judging process in sessions held around the world. Achieving a Global Award is a remarkable accolade. Congratulations, Mike! |
