Carol Sellman is the June 2009 All Children's Hospital Employee of the Month.  Carol works in Respiratory Therapy as a Respiratory Therapist and has been with All Children's since 1998.  A fellow employee recognized Carol's Service Excellence and nominated her for Employee of the Month honors.  The employee said: 

In the Hospital Lobby a Code Blue was called overhead.  All code team personnel were in route and arriving from the third floor.  When I got there a teenage boy was having a seizure and at his side was Carol Sellman.  Carol had just finished her shift as an RT and had already clocked out and headed home.  When she got to the hospital entrance doors to leave, the young man's mother asked for help.  Another employee ran to call the Code Blue and Carol assisted the mother and her son.  She made sure his airway was open and began assessing him.  Carol remained at his side as the Code Blue team arrived and stayed to offer assistance to the team's RTs.  She remained until the boy was taken to the Emergency Center for treatment.  I was impressed how she jumped into action and stayed to help even though she was on her way home.  I feel Carol is a complete professional and credit to the RT profession and I am proud to call her my co-worker! 

Carol's Department Director added:

Carol is a very caring and compassionate employee and respiratory therapist.  Her actions highlighted in this nomination are not surprising or unusual as Carol always takes the time to help a patient in need.  Carol consistently demonstrates Service Excellence and this is yet another fine example.
