|Applications for Designing Clinical Research Program Cohort 3 Due February 1|
The successful Designing Clinical Research Program (DCR) will enroll a new cohort of ACH-based investigators for an 18-month program that begins in June 2014. February 1 is the application deadline.
Using a combination of structured didactic training and ongoing mentorship, DCR supports the All Children's community in developing/enhancing skills in human subjects clinical research and related scholarship. These skills will include: study question and concept development; appropriate study design, project proposal, IRB application, data collection, management and interpretation; submitting and presenting abstracts; and submitting manuscripts to peer-reviewed publications.
The program begins in June 2014 with a weekend retreat that introduces key concepts of clinical research and continues with a structured didactic program, small group sessions with mentors and peers, one-on-one mentoring, and informal networking interactions. Follow-up workshops will focus on preparing abstracts and presentations for scientific meetings, and providing feedback on research project posters and presentations.
Participants need not have significant previous research experience or a fully developed project idea; the goal of the program is to assist clinicians with project development, study design, biostatistics and presentation of findings.
Applications are due by February 1, 2014; applicants will be selected based on their level of interest, merit of their project idea, and division support.
