|2nd Annual All Children's Hospital Johns Hopkins Medicine Research Symposium - Friday, October 11|
The second annual All Children's Hospital Johns Hopkins Medicine Research Symposium will be held on Friday, October 11, 2013 from 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. in the Outpatient Care Center. This year's symposium will integrate the themes of research, education and ethics.
As in 2012, the Symposium will feature oral presentations and open poster sessions on the work of ACH-affiliated researchers.
The morning session will consist of the REWards (Research Ethics Workshops about responsibilities and duties of scientists) Program which is specifically designed for research principal investigators. This program required pre-registration, which is now over, and all seats are filled.
However, Grand Rounds and the afternoon oral and poster presentations are open and all ACH community members are welcome.
Margaret R. Moon, M.D., M.P.H., Freeman Scholar in Clinical Ethics at the Johns Hopkins Berman Institute of Bioethics, will discuss research ethics as the featured speaker for Pediatric Grand Rounds from 12:30 to 1:30pm. Lunch will be complimentary. Additionally, as part of the afternoon sessions, Allen Everett, M.D., Professor of Pediatrics at Johns Hopkins, will discuss "Identification and Development of Brain Injury Markers" and Brigitta Mueller, M.D., the new Vice President, Medical Affairs and Chief Safety Officer at All Children's Hospital, will explore "What is New in Sickle Cell Research?"
The symposium will conclude with the presentation of the award for this year's Best Research Abstract.
