The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) is launching a national campaign, "Where's Baby? Look Before You Lock," a communications program to educate parents and caregivers about the hazards of leaving children unattended in vehicles. Last year, 33 children in the U.S. died of heatstroke as a result of being unattended in a vehicle. Two of those children were from Florida. The Suncoast Safe Kids Coalition led by All Children's Hospital is firmly committed to this issue, working through its Coalition Members - made up of a committed group of nurses, doctors, parents, first responders, EMS, government officials, industry professionals and other volunteers - already engaged in grassroots programming to prevent childhood injuries and deaths. For more information, visit the Safe Kids web page or call 800-756-SAFE. |
