|All Children's VIP Auction An Awesome '80s Hit!|
As VIP Auctions go, in the words of Michael Jackson, you couldn't beat it.
The bidding on an array of dazzling items and cool travel packages raised money for the All Children's Autism Center, once again raising important funds to find better ways of diagnosing, assessing and rehabilitating children with autism and other developmental disorders.
Guests also enjoyed a delicious dinner and danced the night away to the familiar rockin' songs of the decade performed by ACH editor/writer Dave Scheiber's Ocean Road Band - joined on stage by creative services director Mike Sexton on lead guitar and featuring a special, rock-singing appearance by Drew Rabin, husband of ACH Foundation executive vice president Jenine Rabin.
"The dance floor was on fire!" said Waleska.
"This was my first VIP Auction and I was very impressed with the event for a few key reasons: 1. Our sponsorships were up by over 20% compared to last year; The live auction was up almost 60% compared to last year; 3. The energy in the room and from our guests was incredible," Jenine said. "I think that it speaks to the commitment that people feel to the community of ACH and our mission. I thank Waleska Lozada for her great work on VIP (and only one month into the job of Development Council Coordinator) and the entire Development Council for producing an exceptional event to benefit ACH."
Along with the band, many attendees donned classic '80s attire or dressed like iconic figures of the era - from Madonna to Richard Simmons to Bruce Springsteen.
Another highlight was an appearance and talk by the Brew Family, whose 7-year-old son Kamryn is benefitting from therapy at the Autism Center.
All in all, it was a night to remember from one wild and crazy decade.
