Allkids.org Garners Gold Award for Health Care Web Redesign

The All Children's Hospital website won the Gold Award for Best Website Redesign at the 2013 Greystone.Net and Krames StayWell Best In Class Client Awards on November 3. There were nearly 150 entries and 50 plus finalists represented at this conference, which showcased outstanding hospital and health system website content and functionality.

The All Children's Hospital website launched a newly redesigned site in June, featuring improvements based on analytics and usability research best practices. To create a cleaner design, an array of 25+ top level navigation items on the home page was pared to 13, and analytics were used to reduce visual confusion and improve the typical site user's predictive path. The new design is more responsive to smart phones and tablets (more than 40% of site visits are now made via mobile devices) and all pages are set up to be shared via social media.

The allkids.org home page now emphasizes key calls to action and the four tenets of the hospital's mission, while also giving greater emphasis to four key service areas. Traffic to these key service areas-neonatology/NICU, hematology-oncology, neuroscience and cardiology/cardiovascular surgery-increased as much as 400 percent.

"This was a true team effort by all the talented members of the eHealth/Interactive Services Team," said Cindy Rose, Vice President, Marketing, Branding and Community Relations.

"The redesign combines a more modern look with improved functionality," says Darrell Lee, Director, eHealth and Interactive Services. "It is just the beginning of a series of enhancements that we will be rolling out over the next year."
