Amanda (Mandy) Burns, RN is the March 2012 DAISY Award Recipient

Congratulations to Amanda (Mandy) Burns, RN who is the March 2012 Daisy Award Recipient. Mandy is an RN on 8 North. The DAISY Award is presented monthly to an All Children's Hospital Nurse who has provided extraordinary service to our patients. Mandy was nominated by a parent who wrote:

Mandy was an amazing nurse! Seriously, the best we have ever had. Our son is on the Autism Spectrum and is sensitive to everything.  She was so attentive to him and our family. He is a strong boy and quite the squirmer when you are doing something to him that he does not like. She held him during a procedure because of his sensitivities.  He was not happy having this procedure after two days of EEGs and an MRI. Mandy was amazing with him.  As a matter of fact, the staff was able to get a champagne tap (a blood draw that was essentially "perfect") thanks to her. You really are fortunate to have someone as amazing as Mandy on your staff.  She truly made our stay here awesome.  We have been here since Saturday and she really helped us make it through with a sensitive kiddo.  We normally don't feel so compelled to compliment someone, but she is so amazing. Thank you Mandy. You really made all the difference in our stay, we love you!

Mandy's department director added:

"Mandy has worked as an RN on 8 North for nine years," said Lisa Moore, RN, Nursing Director. "She is kind, compassionate and extremely enthusiastic about her role as a nurse. She is able to care for very complex patients and their families with ease. Mandy goes above and beyond in making patients feel comfortable throughout their hospital stay. She definitely demonstrates the qualities that the Daisy Award reflects."

Thank you Mandy, for your service excellence to All Children's Hospital and your continued passion to pursue perfection.
