| All Children's Hospital Family Advisory Council (FAC) Celebrates Second Anniversary | ||
The All Children's Hospital Family Advisory Council (FAC) celebrated its second anniversary Tuesday evening during its monthly meeting held in the Children's Auditorium. The FAC was created in 2008 to help give families and patients a greater voice in promoting family-centered care at All Children's.
The FAC began with ten parents and two former patients. Members serve two-year terms in a volunteer capacity; additional members were added on the FAC's first anniversary in September 2009. Council members provide positive feedback and constructive suggestions to All Children's Hospital leaders. They discuss the emotional, cultural and spiritual needs of patients and families that may go along with medical concerns. "We are very proud of the many accomplishments and the impact the Council has had over the last two years," says Laurie Chalifoux, Administrative Director of Medical Affairs and Quality Resources, FAC Co-Chair. "They provided valuable feedback to Hospital staff on what it means to provide family-centered care; they role-played with the pediatric residents learning to provide Family Centered Rounds, and escorted families to their rooms on move day. "Before the move to the new Hospital, the FAC played a key role in developing the new inpatient handbook for families. These are just a few of the projects on which our FAC members have shared their experience and enthusiasm. We are so privileged to have such dedicated families to help us be even better."
