Donna Henson, RN is the DAISY Award Recipient for July, 2009
Donna Henson, RN, is the July, 2009 DAISY Award recipient. Donna is a nurse in our Neonatal ICU. 

The DAISY Award is presented monthly to an All Children's Hospital Nurse that has provided extraordinary service to our patients.

A family recently wrote:

My wife and I are from Knoxville, TN.  We had our daughter nine weeks early while on vacation here in the Tampa Bay area.  Donna helped us immensely during this stressful time by going out of her way to answer all of our questions and by making my wife and I feel as if there is no other place in the country that we would rather trust our daughter to.

Donnas' bedside manner can be ranked with the highest in the nation.  No matter how ridiculous our questions may have been, Donna never once made us feel as if we were wasting her time.  She would make sure that we understood what was happening everyday with our daughter.  She would never ignore us or be short with us.  When an alarm would go off at our daughter's bed, Donna would quickly respond, which reassured my wife and I that our baby was constantly being observed.

Donna showed an extreme level of concern for our daughter's well-being, which can only be described as motherly.  Any outsider who has seen the compassion Donna has for all of her patients would immediately think that all the babies in the unit were her own.  Her bubbly personality was always a pleasure to be around and made a stressful and scary situation easier to endure.

Donna has shown the highest level of commitment to her profession.  She is a testament to the level of care given at All Children's Hospital and a shining example of everything the DAISY Award should stand for.
