David DeJesus has been a big hit with the Tampa Bay Rays since joining the club late last season. And one day after banging out three singles for his team, DeJesus proved to be just as big a hit with patients and families at All Children's Hospital Wednesday morning.

The veteran outfielder and young reliever Brandon Gomes, along with team mascot Raymond, paid a visit to sick children at the hospital - and the result was a home run. Both players were naturals as they interacted with kids, family members and staff.

"Seeing the kids and their passion for the Rays is great," DeJesus said. "Just knowing that these kids are having ups and downs and we can come by and put a smile on their face and give them some relief from thinking about what they are going through is important."

Added Gomes: "I was very excited about coming. This is a great partnership. Anytime we have a chance to give back to the community, especially kids, it's always fun for us. We see lots of kids at the ball park, but to come here and have a chance to hang out with the kids in the hospital, it definitely puts things in perspective about how fortunate it is to be healthy."

The visit was one of several scheduled this season by the Rays in conjunction with Sagicor, a financial services company and corporate sponsor of the team.
