The Risk Claims/Insurance Manager will manage all general and professional liability claims actively against the Hospital, and it’s affiliated and subsidiary organizations and must possess the ability to assess potential liability situations, and evaluate potential exposure of liability situations. Responsible to perform and oversee performance of the investigation and claims management of complex liability claims including direction of counsel and insurance providers, and management of third party vendors and other service providers. Responsible for the identification of risk reduction strategies and assisting, devising and implementing methods to reduce risk and implementing claims process with campus entities. Analyzes complex or technically difficult medical malpractice claims; is primarily responsible for investigating, evaluating and resolving claims and lawsuits of the most severe and complex nature, works with claims divisional managers and directors to develop training plans and strategies for the Risk Management Department; responsible for the coaching, training and mentoring of individual team members.
Requirements:Bachelor's degree in insurance, business, management, or healthcare related fields. Advanced degree preferred. In lieu of an Advanced degree, candidates must have equivalent experience in field of claims & insurance. Must obtain the required Federal/State licenses/registrations Florida All Lines Insurance Adjuster License within one year from date of hire. Additional licenses/registrations may be required when new products and services are implemented. If the Manager is unable to obtain required licenses/registrations within the time period designated by the business unit, the Manager will be ineligible to continue in the position. Completion of insurance courses in IIA and CPCU preferred. 7-10 years in a healthcare environment managing staff in a Claim or Risk Mgmt Dept, with knowledge of hospital operations
