Practice Supervisor

Description: Directs, coordinates and supervises daily office operations in conjunction with the Physician Practice Administrator (PPA), ensuring efficient and effective delivery of services. Provides support to PPA. Supervises all office assistants/coordinators and medical assistant staff (prn). Performs routine as well as advanced office functions for multi-disciplinary practices, which may include advanced scheduling, patient registration and authorization. Reconciles cash drawer and patient charges. Prepares and organizes the medical record and maintains the continuity of the data and security of documents. Provides general clerical and secretarial tasks for multiple physicians.
Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent required. Associate Degree required. In lieu of Associate, candidates with at least 5 yrs. of supervisory experience will be considered. Additionally 2-3 years of physician's office experience and 1-2 years of management/supervisory experience required. Must have ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing and have good interpersonal, judgment and decision-making skills. Word processing and basic math skills required. Medical terminology required, with knowledge of cardiology terminology preferred. Knowledge of computer systems and automated billing systems preferred. Familiarity with CPT-4, ICD-9 coding, third party payor requirements, and authorization processes, preferred. Must have visual and auditory acuity to operate general office equipment. Requires ability to climb on step stool, stoop, crouch and reach. Requires light work, exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally (lift, push, pull). Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English. Needs ability to effectively deal with stress and work in a hectic environment with multiple interruptions.
