Experienced Registered Respiratory Therapist* with more than 1 year of experience focusing on expanding knowledge and skills. The RT II applies more in-depth clinical reasoning and critical thinking skills. Consistently provides effective direct patient care on a variety of complex patients. Demonstrates and completes RT II clinical pathway. Per Diem RT’s will be evaluated using this position summary and RT specific competencies.
Current licensure in the State of Florida. Must be a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT). BLS required and PALS certification required within 6 months of employment. NRP certification required if working in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. RT III and IV’s must have a minimum of one advanced credential (i.e. NPS, RPFT, AE-C). RT IV’s must be a RRT with a minimum of 5 years neonatal/pediatric experience. Ability to communicate effectively with physicians, parents, patients, fellow staff and all members of the healthcare team. Ability to position patients to properly administer all therapeutic modalities as described in the departmental procedure manuals. Ability to utilize a variety of different equipment to render care. Ability to perform physical activity, including but not limited to: repetitive motions, grasping, fingering (pinching, typing, handling, etc.), lifting, pulling, pushing, walking, standing, reaching, crouching and stooping. Cognitive skill required to provide safe patient care. Physical ability to perform all aspects of patient care, including COR on all patients ranging from neonate to adult. Ability to read, write, speak and understand English. Ability to effectively interact with patients, families, physicians, ancillary and support staff. Ability to effectively manage within an environment of emotional and physical stress.
