The Safe Routes to School instructor will coordinate, implement and evaluate bicycle and pedestrian safety programs for children through community-based activities and special events.
Must have a minimum of one year of teaching, instructing or training experience, preferably with elementary or middle school students. Prior involvement with special events, marketing or promotions is strongly preferred. Bachelor dgree in education/health related field or applicable licensure required. Three years of relevant experience may be considered in lieu of degree. Must have the ability to ride, move, manipulate and transport bicycles and heavy equipment from place to place. Must be able to stand, stoop, kneel, reach, push, pull, and lift heavy objects exerting to approximately 20 lbs or more. Must demonstrate excellent communication and presentation skills. Must meet qualifications to become certified (or approved) instructor for programming sponsored by the Community Education Dept
