Decription: This position is responsible for accurately and efficiently coding all diagnoses and procedures, accurately assigning the correct CPT codes and modifiers, outpatient specific populations. Also responsible for the integrity of the data collection for outpatient visits/short stay visits to produce claims, for State and Federal reporting, and for statistical and research information. Coders within this category have demonstrated proficiency in at least one category of patients to include Same Day Surgery, Clinic, Recurring, Emergency Center, Observation, and short stay accounts.
High school graduate or GED required. Requires a minimumm of one (1) year experience in ICD-9-CM and CPT-4 coding in an outpatient and/or acute care setting or have current credential as RHIT, RHIA, or CCS with related experience. Computer experience required, Windows preferred. Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English. Needs ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing. Good interpersonal skills required. Must have ability to effectively deal with stress and handle multiple tasks at the same time amidst frequent interruptions. Must be able to work independently
