The Plastic Surgery nurse practitioner is an Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner who demonstrates expertise in the clinical management of pediatric Plastic Surgery patients. The practitioner role is multi-faceted and includes clinical management of the pediatric Plastic Surgery patient population, educational responsibilities, administrative duties, consulting, and initiating/implementing research. The Plastic Surgery nurse practitioner works in collaboration with medicine, nursing and support services to provide family centered care. The Plastic Surgery nurse practitioner maintains active participation in his/her own continuing education and professional development.
Current licensures in the State of Florida as a registered nurse/advanced registered Nurse Practitioner.
Current national certification as a Nurse Practitioner.
Master's degree in nursing or related health care field. Graduate of an approved Nurse Practitioner program.
Minimum of 2 years work experience as a Nurse Practitioner with background in pediatrics, experience in Plastic Surgery preferred.
BCLS and PALS certification required.
Expert clinical, written and verbal communication.
The cognitive ability to safely administer medications.
Physical ability to perform all aspects of patient care, including CPR, on all patients ranging in age from neonate to adult.
Read / write / speak and understand English.
Auditory and visual ability to assess and provide nursing care.
Ability to effectively interact with patients, families, physicians, ancillary and support staff.
Ability to effectively manage with an environment of emotional and physical stress.
Ability to move about the hospital campus.
Ability to perform physical activity including, but not limited to: repetitive motions, feeling, grasping, fingering (pinching, typing, handling, etc.), lifting, pulling, pushing, walking, standing, reaching, crouching, and stooping.
