The Palliative Care pediatric nurse practitioner is an advanced registered nurse practitioner who demonstrates expertise in the clinical management of the child. The practitioner role is multi-faceted and includes clinical management, educational responsibilities, administrative duties, consulting, and initiating/implementing research. The Palliative Care pediatric nurse practitioner works in collaboration with the Palliative Care Team as well as other hospital medical, nursing, and support services to provide family centered care. Palliative Care pediatric nurse practitioner will provide consultation in palliative care, symptom management and supportive care in collaboration with the Palliative Care physician. The practitioner maintains active participation in his/her own continued education and professional development.
Requirements:
Current licensure in the State of Florida as an advanced registered nurse practitioner. Masters of Science in Nursing or a related field.
Current national certification as a nurse practitioner in Palliative Care preferred.
Minimum of 3 years work experience in an Advanced RN Practitioner role in a pediatric environment required. Palliative Care or Pain Management experience preferred.
Complete Palliative Care certification with one year of employment. Expert clinical, written and verbal communication skills. The cognitive ability to safely administer medications.
Physical ability to perform all aspects of patient care, including CPR and BLS, on all patients ranging in age from neonate to adult. Read/write/speak and understand English. Auditory and visual ability to assess and provide nursing care.
Ability to effectively interact with patients, families, physicians, ancillary and support staff.
Ability to effectively manage within an environment of emotional and physical stress.
Ability to move about the hospital campus.Ability to perform physical activity including, but not limited to: repetitive motions,
