It is my honor and privilege to serve as the President of our Branch for the 2012-2013 year. In 1997, our Branch was organized by a handful of dedicated energetic women and continued to grow since then. The Branch has 35 members, men and women, who have come to our volunteer organization from various backgrounds. We all share the same common goal, which is to fund raise for All Children's Hospital and the Outpatient Care Centers in Sarasota and Lakewood Ranch.
Our mission of the All Children's Hospital Guild is to advocate, volunteer and fundraise for children and families of All Children's Hospital. I feel privileged to be part of this organization and welcome you to join us in our fundraising efforts for the coming year.
Our branch has scheduled the following fund raisng events for the coming year:
Along with the other eight Guild Branches, a major portion of the funds we raise this year will go towards our three year pledge for the Pediatric Palliative Care Program at All Children's Hospital. This is a new program at All Children's Hospital that will help provide a coordinated, comprehensive, and compassionate approach for caring for children with life limiting and potentially life-threatening illnesses and injuries.
A portion of the funds will also go to the Legacy Fund that will provide funds for special equipment, programs, or any other needs of the Outpatient Care Centers in Sarasota and Lakewood Ranch. This year, our Branch Legacy donation towards the new outdoors Therapeutic Playground at the Outpatient Care Center in Sarasota. This playground provides therapy for children with various physical needs in a play atmosphere. The child just thinks they are playing!
Another Legacy project our Branch funded is the Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome (NAS) clinical study. Since 2000, the number of infants in the Sarasota County diagnosed with NAS has increased 1600%. All Children's Hospital along with Sarasota Memorial Hospital Neonatologists and Pediatricians will monitor a baby born addicted for three years. The research study will collect data and provide any developmental needs that the baby may require. This cutting edge information will be reported to the American Academy of Pediatrics.
The Sarasota/Manatee Guild is a group of dedicated volunteers who meet on the third Tuesday of each month (September - June) at 6:30pm, held at various locations. We invite you to join us in helping the children of our community. We welcome anyone who is interestd in our volunteer organization to contact me.
The hearts of the volunteers in our branch is not measured in size, but by the depth of their commitment to make a difference in the lives of children and their families.
