The All Children's Hospital Guild is made up of dedicated volunteers who assist the All Children's Hospital Foundation by providing resources for children who need the Hospital's services. From a single organization formed in 1949 in St. Petersburg, Florida, the Guild has grown to include more than 450 members in nine branches - St. Petersburg Day, Beach, Seminole/Largo, North Pinellas, St. Petersburg Evening, Pasco, Sarasota/Manatee, Tampa, and Brandon. The Branches host more than 50 fundraising events throughout the year in our effort to support the Guild's Mission, which is: To advocate, volunteer, and fundraise for children and families of All Children's hospital.
In the last two years, the Guild has completed a $500,000 pledge to the Applied Behavioral Analysis Program. Through the years, the Guild has raised funds for a variety of programs and projects. They have funded $4.1 million for the Newborn Intensive Care Unit in the new hospital, and a Rose & Butterfly Garden for families and staff to enjoy. In addition, at the 2012 ACH Telethon, the Guild presented a check to the Foundation for $400,000.
Most recently, the Guild has accepted a three year, $900,000 pledge to Palliative Care. The Pediatric Palliative Care Program at All Children's Hospital helps provide a coordinated, comprehensive, and compassionate approach to caring for children with life-limiting or potentially life-threatening illnesses and injuries. The Guild's gift will create an endowment to expand and sustain the multidisciplinary Palliative Care Program.
The Pediatric Palliative Care Program has a team consisting of a physician, nurse, social worker, child life specialist, chaplain and pain management nurse. The Palliative Care Team supports the primary health care team by providing emotional and spiritual support to the children and their family members. The goal is to help children and families live as normal as life as possible and support them in making decisions about care, while respecting families' choices, values, and cultural traditions. Half of the infants and children hospitalized at All Children's can benefit from some or all of the Palliative Care Team's services. The Guild's gift will also create a Pediatric Palliative Care Fellowship to help provide specialized physicain training, enhance medical care, and provide needed medical research and education in pediatric palliative care.
In addition to the pledge commitment, each Branch has a Legacy Fund in which monies support timely and urgent needs of the hospital and the ACH Outpatient Care Centers. This includes research funding, program or clinical support, and advocacy or educations support.
