Learning Objectives: As a result of attending this presentation, participants will be able to:
- Evaluate factors that contribute to the dramatic decline in maternal to child transmission of HIV within developing countries
- Appropriately treat or refer children with HIV using antiretroviral therapy to achieve immune reconstitution
- Practice using the concept that selective pressures of host immunity and antiretroviral therapy contribute to viral genetic diversity.
