|Mary Ann Meljac is the October 2012 Employee of the Month|
Mary Ann Meljac is the October 2012 Employee of the Month. Mary Ann works in Nursing Administration as an Executive Assistant and has been with All Children's since 2007. Mary Ann was recognized for her Service Excellence by her fellow employees, who submitted this in her nomination for Employee of the Month:
Mary Ann is routinely called upon to handle many different types of situations in her role as an Executive Assistant to the Vice President and Chief Nursing Officer. She takes the calls from the switchboard when the operator is unsure where to transfer the call; she helps parents who are unsure of when or where their appointment is; and she helps guide families to the correct resource when there are concerns. Whether it is an employee, vendor, patient or family member, Mary Ann handles all of these calls in a professional and compassionate manner and will go above and beyond to make sure each caller has a resolution.
Her interactions with everyone are always positive and upbeat. If that was not enough to keep her busy, she was crucially involved with the preparation for our visit by The Joint Commission. She spent many late evenings (and some weekends) helping to coordinate visits from consultants and Johns Hopkins accreditation experts who came to ACH to ensure we were prepared and ready to highlight our organizational excellence when the Joint Commission arrived to do our survey.
An example of Mary Ann's commitment to ACH was when she needed to leave work at 5:30 p.m. for her volunteer shift at the Ronald McDonald House (RMH) and then, after her shift at RMH, returned to her desk that same evening to finalize the details for our mock survey and have everything ready for the next day. Mary Ann always has the employee, patient and family in mind in all she does each and every day. And while her position does not involve direct patient contact, her impact is felt beyond the Administration suite.
Mary Ann, thank you for your wonderful Service Excellence and all you do for our employees, vendors, patients and families and especially for your countless hours you worked to ensure ACH had a successful Joint Commission Survey. Congratulations for receiving the All Children's Hospital Employee of the Month honors!
