All Children’s Hospital received a check for $34,557 from the Tampa Bay Rays on Sept. 21. Led by Alison Shelton, wife of hitting Coach Derek Shelton, the Rays’ wives and girlfriends raised the funds with their Mystery Ball event held Sept. 8. For $40, fans received an autographed baseball inside a “mystery” paper bag. Accepting the check at The Trop for All Children’s were, from left Dr. Patrick Mularoni, Mary Mahoney and Shannon Colborn. Representing the Rays were Alison, Derek and Bella Shelton and Stephanie Cursi, wife of bullpen Coach Scott Cursi. This donation has been earmarked for AllSports Medicine, the All Children's Hospital Sports Medicine program led by Dr. Mularoni.
