Courtney Tamplin, RN is the September 2012 DAISY Award Recipient

Congratulations to Courtney Tamplin, RN who is the September 2012 Daisy Award recipient. Courtney is an RN in the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU). The DAISY Award is presented monthly to an All Children's Hospital Nurse who has provided extraordinary service to our patients.

Courtney Tamplin, RN Sept. 2012 Daisy Award RecipientCourtney was nominated by a fellow employee who wrote:

I recently had the privilege to work side by side with Courtney while taking care of a critically ill patient in the CVICU. The patient was in the unit for about a month and required a tremendous amount of physical and emotional support during her entire stay. Courtney became one of her primary nurses, taking care of her almost every scheduled shift, and picking up extra making sure her care stayed consistent. I was very impressed with the care Courtney provided day in and day out.  No matter how physically and emotionally exhausted she was, she never showed it. Courtney even made sure she had time during her chaotic shifts to provide this patient with "spa" time. She washed the patient's hair, painted her nails and made sure she was taken care of.  Not only did Courtney take impeccable care of her patient, she made sure that she took time to talk to the family, discussing plans for the shift and orders that went with it. Courtney showed levels of clinical skills, high quality care, concern, compassion and sympathy that each of us should strive for every day. The CVICU is extremely lucky to have Courtney as a member of its team and I feel just as lucky to work side by side with her and see the dedication that she displays with her nursing care. Courtney's work ethic is the example that we as nurses should want to replicate. Courtney deserves to be recognized for the incredible care she provided, not just to this patient, but also to her family!

"Courtney has been a vital part of the CVICU for a year and a half," said Chris Snyder, RN, Heart Center Business Manager on behalf of the Heart Center Team. "During this time she has become co-chair of our adult congenital heart education committee. She has organized several fundraising opportunities within our unit, including the handmade ID badges and the beautiful heart center shirts. The Heart Center Team has received numerous comments from families stating how much they enjoy having her as their nurse and have remarked on her caring and calm demeanor when dealing with very difficult situations. Courtney is a team player and welcomes new challenges when caring for our sickest of patients. Her positive attitude and bright smile always make her a joy to work with."

Thank you Courtney, for your service excellence to All Children's Hospital and your continued passion to pursue perfection.
