March is Child Life Month! All Children's Hospital is proud to recognize our Child Life Specialists who make up part of an important part of our multidisciplinary team. They provide services at our main hospital and the Tampa Specialty clinic. Each of these specialists is trained in child development theory, applying that knowledge to helping patients cope and have a positive experience during their hospital stay.
A variety of special fun activities have been scheduled for our patents during March to celebrate Child Life Month. This year's theme is "Play is Healing":
March 5: Dr. Seuss Day 2:30 p.m.-3:30 p.m. - Celebrate Dr. Seuss and fun activities surrounding this theme. The St. Pete Women's Club will volunteer and help out at the event.
March 8: Teddy Bear Clinic 2:00 p.m. - 3:30 p.m. - Patients/families are invited to participate in a doctor's clinic for their teddy bears. We will be inviting all clinical staff including MDs, RNs, and other medical specialties.
March 12: Creepy Crawler Event 2:30 p.m. - 3:30 p.m. - Great Explorations Children's Museum will feature their exotic pet collection.
March 15: Home Depot Wood Workshop 2:30 p.m. -3:30 p.m. - Home Depot will conduct a sailboat woodshop activity for patients.
March 16: Children's St. Patty's Day Party: 2:30 p.m.- 3:30 p.m. - A fun event featuring arts and craft activities surrounding the St. Patrick's Day theme and music by Derek Reese courtesy of the Listening Room Project.
