Leo Anderson, RN is the February 2012 DAISY Award Recipient

Congratulations to Leo Anderson, RN who is the February 2012 Daisy Award Recipient. Leo works in our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). The DAISY Award is presented monthly to an All Children's Hospital Nurse that has provided extraordinary service to our patients. Leo was nominated by a parent who wrote:

Leo is the most cheerful happy nurse in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). He makes it so much easier to get through such a sad and stressful time. Leo gives me his opinion, but also listens to mine. I could really tell he cared about what I had to say and he lets me make some decisions about my baby's care. He just seems very good at what he does. He has been the only nurse that has taught me and my husband how to get our baby to eat. He is so willing to teach us and help us and he does it without being pushy at all. I cry everyday when I'm in the NICU and today was the first day I had a smile on my face and wasn't upset. It's the first night I am staying all night and it's because of Leo. I actually wish Leo could be my baby's nurse everyday. He definitely makes me feel more comfortable staying here since I have anxiety issues. He makes it very easy to ask questions and comes to check on me often to see if I need his help.

 Leo's Department Director added:

"Leo has been working in the NICU for nearly four years and is a strong patient advocate," said Cindy Driscoll, RN, BSN, MS, Director of the NICU. "He also advocates for his fellow staff nurses by giving necessary input on the issues and the processes that affects them and makes suggestions about possible solutions."

Thank you Leo, for your service excellence to All Children's Hospital and your continued passion to pursue perfection.
