Families of kids with asthma know the facts firsthand. Asthma is the most common chronic childhood illness. Children with asthma are three times more likely to have school absences than children without asthma. What these families need to know is how to cope with the condition.
In an effort to help parents and children learn about successful strategies to manage asthma, All Children's Hospital, The Suncoast Pediatric Asthma Coalition, the Pinellas County Health Department, and many community partners will host the 9th Annual Asthma Family Day on Saturday, April 30 from 9:30 a.m. - 2:15 p.m. This free event will be held at the All Children's Hospital Outpatient Care Center at 601 5th Street S. in St. Petersburg.
Asthma Family Day offers a variety of programs that are designed to improve asthma self-management skills and awareness. Parents will have an opportunity to ask questions directly of other parents, physicians, environmental specialists and respiratory therapists. Children ages 4 -12 will participate in fun educational activities designed just for them. Lunch will be served to all participants.
