ACH Welcomes the National Child Passenger Safety Board

On January 19 & 20 All Children's Hospital will be the host meeting site for the National Child Passenger Safety Board (NCPSB). This 21 member Board has been established to provide program direction and technical guidance to states, communities and organizations as a means to maintain a credible, standardized child passenger safety training and certification program. This includes children with special transportation needs. Amy Heinzen, MPH, CPSTI, CCLS, All Children's Hospital's Outreach Coordinator in the Community Education and Advocacy Department is the 2011 Vice-Chairperson for the NCPSB.

Following the Board meeting, on January 21, 2011, the American Academy of Pediatrics representative physician on the NCPSB will be the Pediatric Grand Rounds speaker. Dr. Marilyn J. Bull, MD, Morris Green Professor of Pediatrics; Medical Director, Automotive Safety for Children Program. We hope you will join us as this presentation will be presented live in the ECC Auditorium at 12:30 PM. A moderated telecast will be available at All Children's Specialty Care of Lakeland, and viewable via webcast at www.allkids.org/cme

As a result of attending this presentation, participants will gain a better understanding of best practice for restraint of child passengers at different sizes and ages. Participants will also learn how to access child passenger safety (CPS) resources in the community, and recognize special considerations for transportation of small infants. Certified Child Passenger Safety Technicians will be present to discuss specific questions or concerns regarding safe transportation for children.
