Jeri Solaiman, RN is the DAISY Award Recipient for January, 2011

Jeri Solaiman, RN is the January, 2011 DAISY Award recipient. Jeri is a nurse in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). The DAISY Award is presented monthly to an All Children's Hospital Nurse that has provided extraordinary service to our patients.

A parent wrote:

Jeri worked the overnight shift and cared for our newborn who was dehydrated and had been rushed to the Neonatal ICU (NICU).  Jeri comforted the baby, me and my wife through constant communication and a clear compassion for our baby. Her wealth of knowledge and skill put us at ease. Just watching her work around our baby, it was clear that she cared for her as if it was her own.

Jeri helped teach us ways to better care for our baby. She showed us what to look for while in the NICU, and made sure that we were comfortable with everything that was happening. Overall, I never wanted to be in the NICU, but the care of Jeri and the other nurses helped make the experience far less frightening than it could have been.

Perhaps the greatest compliment my wife and I can give Jeri is that on the last night our baby was in the NICU, we were both willing to go home and sleep knowing that Jeri was watching our child.  As any parent would know, this is not easy to do with a newborn. Please extend our sincere gratitude for all of Jeri's care.

"Jeri was recruited to the NICU in May, 2009 and has proven to be a great addition to our staff," said Cindy Quackenbush MBA, BSN, RN, Director of Neonatal Services.  "She is always very positive and professional. She has taken the initiative to learn as much as possible to be an asset to the NICU.  In addition to providing excellent care to patients and their families, Jeri is a member of the STORK Team and our Total Body Cooling Team.  We are very proud to have Jeri represent the NICU and All Children's Hospital."

Thank you Jeri, for your service excellence to All Children's Hospital and your continued passion to pursue perfection.
