Anita Smith, RN is the DAISY Award Recipient for March, 2010
Anita Smith, RN, is the March, 2010 DAISY Award recipient. Anita is a nurse on 8 North.

The DAISY Award is presented monthly to an All Children's Hospital Nurse that has provided extraordinary service to our patients.

A family recently wrote:

"Anita was my son's nurse for several nights while we were on the 8th floor.  She took excellent care of him and was very supportive and encouraging to us. On the day of his biopsy, he had to have a blood transfusion.  Even though her shift had ended, she stayed over to make sure that everything went smoothly. She also called from home to make sure that his surgery went well. When my son was moved to the 7th floor, she came to visit him before she started her shift.  That is dedication, compassion and love for your patients!"

"Anita works by the philosophy that there is no need that she will not attempt to fulfill for the patient and family," said Cindy Driscoll, RN, MS, Nursing Director on 8 North. "One of Anita's strengths is definitely her caring attitude and follow up with patients and families. This is what sets her apart from others. She believes that her nursing team is all Daisies. They all help and learn from one another and have different strengths that allows the team to perform well."
