Each year in April, occupational therapists, occupational therapy assistants, and students host a month long celebration showcasing the importance of Occupational Therapy. Here at All Children's Hospital, it is our chance to recognize the 43 occupational therapists who work across the ten sites located on the west coast of Florida. These specially trained professionals make up part of the multidisciplinary team that makes a children's hospital unique. Our services encompass both acute care and outpatient evaluation and treatment.
Pediatric occupational therapy at All Children's Hospital helps children gain independence and promotes development of fine motor skills, sensory motor skills and visual motor skills that children need to function and socialize in their home, school, play and community environments. In the case of an injury or debilitating illness, our services focus on rehabilitating children, allowing them to return to their daily routines at their highest level of function.
Nearly one third of the professionals who are employed as occupational therapists work with children. Here at All Children's Hospital we are proud to have an elite team who share the hospital's mission to provide leadership in child health through treatment, education, research, and advocacy.
