Amanda McCollom, RN is the December, 2009 DAISY Award recipient. Amanda works on 8 South and has worked at All Children's for four years. She holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing from St. Petersburg College.
The DAISY Award is presented monthly to an All Children's Hospital Nurse that has provided extraordinary service to our patients.
"Amanda is a role model for the nursing profession and admired by all her peers," says Karen Shepherd, Nursing Director on 8 South. "She takes on any challenge in a positive manner and can always see the best in any situation. Her delightful sense of humor and team spirit is among her many attributes. She is always full of great ideas. She has the ability to make the best of any situation. As the Clinical Leader on the night shift, the staff feels she is always there to support them and lend a helping hand. She is a caring and compassionate nurse. Parents and patients frequently comment on the excellent care she delivers."
Another colleague wrote, "As the Evening Patient Placement Supervisor, I know I can count on Amanda to advise me of bed openings when beds are in short supply. She is a wonderful resource and an asset for All Children's."
