Transport Team Receives Award

The All Children's Hospital Neonatal & Pediatric Transport Team is the recipient of this year's Florida State Emergency Medical Services for Children Heroes Award. The award honors a health care professional or organization for outstanding achievement in the care of ill or injured children (18 years of age or younger) in the areas of: education, clinical care, community service or disaster management.

Our team currently includes 12 registered nurses, 8 respiratory therapists, 6 paramedics, and 6 EMTs who collectively have 478 years of neonatal and pediatric experience.  They provide the highest level of critical care to sick or injured infants and children by bringing the intensive care unit directly to the patient's bedside.  The Team's goal is stabilization and advanced care prior to transport, thus, improving patient outcomes.  In 2008, the Team transported 1,578 patients to All Children's Hospital from surrounding communities, giving them access to the specialized care. To date, the Team has transported over 30,000 patients.

"I am very proud of the ACH Transport Team in receiving recognition from Florida EMS for Children," said Louise Bowen, Transport Team Director. "Our Team is comprised of dedicated professionals who frequently go above and beyond in caring for the patient and family on transport.  This award has historically been awarded to individuals.  Obtaining this award was a group endeavor with the transport staff contributing to the Team's overall achievements."
