When is the last time you saw a ten-foot tall child flying ten stories above ground?
No, it's not the latest science-fiction summer movie. A construction crane placed a giant-sized All Children's Hospital sign atop the west side of the new hospital on Wednesday, July 29. The sign is a 22' x 64' full-color version of the hospital's logo, complete with the stylized silhouettes of three children that symbolize the hospital's singular focus on kids.
The sign was constructed and secured to the building by Riggins Associates, a Bradenton based company. Jeff Riggins, president of the company, watched the installation with a big smile. He said it took approximately 12 people to hoist the 4,500 pound sign and put it in place.
A similar sign will soon be placed on the east side of the building.
