For the second consecutive year, AllSports Medicine at All Children's Hospital and the Tampa Bay Rays teamed up for the Baseball Coaches Clinic on Aug. 2. Dozens of youth baseball coaches from around the Tampa Bay area attended the event to learn about injury prevention in young athletes.

Carlos Rodriguez, M.D., a sports medicine physician with AllSports Medicine, covered the biomechanics and analysis of throwing a baseball and how that can affect young athletes as they develop and grow. Ryan Ross, A.T.C., a certified athletic trainer with AllSports Medicine, discussed injury prevention and rehabilitation for baseball injuries.

Attendees also had a chance to participate in a Q&A session with Rays' All-Star trainer Ron Porterfield, strength/conditioning coach Kevin Barr, pitching coach Jim Hickey and starting pitcher Matt Moore. Moore, currently on the disabled list, shared his story of suffering an elbow injury this season and undergoing Tommy John surgery.
