Pediatric RN Critical Care (CVICU & PICU) Fellowship Program Accepting Applications Jul. 1-15

Many of you know that All Children's Hospital is a world class pediatric organization. One of the things that makes the Hospital so unique for Nurses is the RN Fellowship program for those interested in stepping into a critical care career.

"I can honestly say that [the Fellowship] has been a life-changing experience on both a personal and professional level, and for that I am forever grateful."
Molly Jackson, BSN, RN, and 2013 Fellow

Molly was working as an RN handling moments of crisis in an adolescent mental health unit and was looking for the next step in her nurse career. She discovered the All Children's Fellowship program offering the chance to work in an ICU as a pediatric critical care nurse. She was accepted in the 2013 program, and as you can tell it has been quite an experience for her.

Only a few times a year, the Fellowship accepts a small number of Florida licensed nurses who each have at least one full year of clinical bedside acute care experience. Each RN Fellow spends about 20 weeks fully immersed in pediatric critical care training that leads to a role on either the PICU or the PVICU team at the hospital. The training is supported by a multidisciplinary group that provides lectures, case studies and simulations. After the immersion, each Fellow begins using their training and completes advanced life support certification. Hands-on supervision and Unit Leadership ensure support, forward progress with an on-going process of assessing each Fellow's needs. All Children's RN Fellowship is a one of a kind opportunity.

"I loved going through the Fellowship program, making the transition to not only to ICU, but to a newborn, pediatric population was definitely scary. In a brief amount of time, the program's combination of didactic and hands-on experience really helped equip me with the foundation I needed to feel comfortable going into the CVICU."
Brooke Buchanan, BSN, RN and Fellow graduate
