Holly Ward, RN is the April 2014 DAISY Award Recipient

Holly WardHolly Ward, RN is the April 2014 DAISY Award recipient. She is a clinical leader on 8 North. The DAISY Award is presented monthly to an All Children's Hospital nurse who has provided extraordinary service to our patients.

Holly was nominated by a colleague who wrote:

I floated today to 8 North and noticed it was really busy. After a short time on the unit, Holly came by to ask if I needed help with vitals and gave me her phone extension. As the day went on, I watched Holly running back and forth. I asked her if she needed help and she replied "no, it's okay, I'm actually doing this for another nurse." I really was astonished by how selfless her actions were and how hard she was working to ensure that her staff was happy and not overworked. Holly helped relieve many nurses so they could get lunch breaks. She never complained. Her smile and attitude brightened everyone's day and made this float one of the best I have had, even though it was a busy day. I appreciate the constant care and encouragement that this charge nurse provides to the team. Eight North is very lucky to have her.

Holly's director added:

Holly is a fantastic nominee for the Daisy Award. She started at All Children's in 2008 as a night shift RN. During the past 6 years, she has completed her master's degree, joined the day shift and became a clinical leader for the 8th floor. Holly is the type of nurse you would want to care for your loved one. She is always positive, and smiling. She works hard every day to include families in decision making. There is a sense of peace when Holly is in charge. Her coworkers will often say they know it's a great day when Holly is here and in charge. You can always find Holly looking for the bright side of any situation. She works hard and truly exemplifies all that the Daisy Award stands for.

Thank you, Holly, for the compassionate care you provide our patients.
