|Kohl’s Cooks for Kids Brings Teens and Firefighters Together for a Chili Dinner|
On February 6th, the kitchen of the Master Fire Station in St. Petersburg was filled with laughter and simmering spices as the firefighters were treated to a very special dinner, cooked by the Teen Council from the Walter Fuller Recreation Center.
The teens were full of excitement when they arrived and eagerly got to work mixing, shredding, and chopping the ingredients for the award winning chili. Staff members from the Kohl's Cooks for Kids program at All Children's Hospital and St. Pete Fire and Rescue were on hand to assist the teens.
During the visit, the teen council was taken on a behind the scenes tour of the fire station. They were eager to learn about the different vehicles, equipment, and what life at the station is like. At the conclusion of the tour, the teens were joined by the firefighters to enjoy the delicious chili as well as fresh strawberries with a tangy chocolate dip.
It was a fun night for both the teens and the firefighters. Kohl's Cooks for Kids and All Children's Hospital would like to thank St. Pete Fire and Rescue and the City of St. Petersburg for their support in making the Chili Challenge and the Chili Dinner possible.
Since 2007, Kohl's has been supporting the efforts at All Children's Hospital to help families learn about nutrition and preparing healthy meals. Under the Kohl's grant, All Children's Hospital offers fun and interactive classes and events that encourage children to make healthy choices and teaches them basic culinary skills so they can assist the family in making tasty and healthy recipes.
