Ground rules for playground safety |
Health and Safety News from All Children's Hospital
Playground injuries made up nearly ten percent of all the pediatric trauma cases treated at All Children's Hospital last year. Here are some basic tips on playground safety:
- Always watch children while they are on a playground
- Look for a playground that has twelve inches of shredded rubber, hardwood fiber much or fine sand below the equipment
- Avoid clothing with hoods, drawstrings or clothing that is extra loose and could get caught in playground equipment
- Children should only use playground equipment that is appropriate for their age and development
