Ann Romney to Visit All Children's Hospital
Playground Dedication Honors Credit Unions/RNC
August 27, 2012 (St. Petersburg, FL) The Credit Union National Association (CUNA), the League of Southeastern Credit Unions and National Journal Group are proud to announce that Ann Romney, wife of presumptive Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney, will attend the ribbon cutting ceremony for a charitable "leave behind" project in the Tampa-St. Pete area. The project, a therapeutic playground for All Children's Hospital, is in honor of the 2012 Republican National Convention being held in Tampa Aug. 27-30.
When: Wednesday, August 29 - 9:00 a.m.
Where: ACH Therapeutic Playground (corner of 6th St. & 9th Ave. S. in St. Petersburg)
Note: The playground provides limited space for guests. Attendance is limited to RSVP invitees only, due to space and security constraints.
The ribbon cutting ceremony will unveil the playground project, which has been in the works for months. The playground will serve All Children's Hospital and patients in the Tampa-St. Pete area. It contains special play equipment designed for the rehabilitation process. The renovated playground for young patients was made possible through fundraising efforts spearheaded by the Southeastern Credit Union Foundation. The genesis of this project comes from CUNA, which has a history of leave-behind projects in conjunction with the National Party conventions. National Journal Group has partnered with CUNA for the last two conventions on these leave-behind projects. The League of Southeastern Credit Unions has been an integral part of the process by providing the fundraising efforts and volunteers for the playground. All the architectural plans and playground equipment were chosen by All Children's Hospital.
"America's credit unions are honored to have Ms. Romney attend this important event that so vividly demonstrates credit unions' involvement in their communities and their philosophy of ‘people helping people,'" said CUNA President and CEO Bill Cheney.
Credit unions are not-for-profit financial cooperatives owned by their members. Today 7,000 credit unions provide affordable financial services to more than 95 million Americans. CUNA is the largest national trade group for America's credit unions. The League of Southeastern Credit Unions is the state trade association for credit unions in Florida and Alabama.
