State Approves Land Transfer for Future Research Facility at All Children's Hospital

January 22, 2014 -- Governor Rick Scott and the Florida Cabinet approved the transfer of 2 acres of land from the state to the University of South Florida and All Children's Hospital to develop a research, training and educational center to advance the care of pediatric patients.

The land is adjacent to the existing Children's Research Institute, located at 601 Fourth Street South, and the All Children's Hospital Outpatient Care Center.

"We are very excited to have received approval to begin the land transfer," said Jonathan M. Ellen, M.D., All Children's Hospital President and Physician in Chief. "We look forward to continuing our collaborations with the University of South Florida, and this is one important milestone in providing the best outcomes for children through research, education and innovation."

Many of the details about the new facility were based on preliminary planning for the site and future growth of the All Children's campus. The facility will continue the public-private collaboration between All Children's Hospital and the University of South Florida. It is expected to house approximately 40 research professionals dedicated to creating new discoveries in child health and wellness.

"We thank the Governor and the Cabinet for their efforts in helping us to move this land transfer forward," said Amy Maguire, Vice President for Government and Corporate Relations. "This important step assists in planning for this property and the continued development of our operations in order to support our mission, our patients and their families."

Additional updates will be provided when we reach new milestones that will bring to life our vision for this property and our future growth.
