All Children’s Cancer Survivors’ University Celebrates Success

2013 Cancer Survivors' DayThe All Children's Cancer Survivors' University was held Sunday, June 2nd as part of National Cancer Survivor Day. Participants celebrated their survivorship and received education about their cancer-free future.

This year's event featured Woody Roseland, a seven time cancer survivor. Roseland's courage, tenacity and humor highlight his story of overcoming insurmountable odds to beat cancer. Roseland brought a message of hope to survivors with his wealth of experience in an energetic and engaging manner. Roseland also took time after his speech to meet patients, answer questions, and snap a few photos.

The event was also featured as part of the ACH Telethon. Yolanda Fernandez from News Channel 8 interviewed cancer survivor Lindsey Belcher about her experience with cancer.

Participants also had the opportunity to choose from a wide range of educational topics which included: having a family after cancer, dealing with cancer's late effects, scholarship opportunities and nutrition.

Attendees created a piece of art that helped them look back at their life with cancer. They were also spoke with representatives from the American Cancer Society, Children's Dream Fund, Fit4AllKids, Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, and the Moffitt Cancer Center.
