|All Children’s Cancer Survivors’ University Celebrates Success|
The All Children's Cancer Survivors' University was held Sunday, June 2nd as part of National Cancer Survivor Day. Participants celebrated their survivorship and received education about their cancer-free future.
This year's event featured Woody Roseland, a seven time cancer survivor. Roseland's courage, tenacity and humor highlight his story of overcoming insurmountable odds to beat cancer. Roseland brought a message of hope to survivors with his wealth of experience in an energetic and engaging manner. Roseland also took time after his speech to meet patients, answer questions, and snap a few photos.
The event was also featured as part of the ACH Telethon. Yolanda Fernandez from News Channel 8 interviewed cancer survivor Lindsey Belcher about her experience with cancer.
Participants also had the opportunity to choose from a wide range of educational topics which included: having a family after cancer, dealing with cancer's late effects, scholarship opportunities and nutrition.
Attendees created a piece of art that helped them look back at their life with cancer. They were also spoke with representatives from the American Cancer Society, Children's Dream Fund, Fit4AllKids, Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, and the Moffitt Cancer Center.
