Congratulations to Adis Mujkanovic for being named the 2008 All Children's Hospital Employee of the Year! Adis, who was the Employee of the Month for November, works as a Housekeeper II and has recently joined the All Children's family. Adis was nominated for Employee of the Month for his Service Excellence provided to a Mother and her infant son when he fixed a bubble-toy for the child's birthday. Adis's co-workers were touched by the Mom's description of her son smiling at the bubbles in his crib, saying it was her only pleasant memory of her son's first birthday.

(Posted on Nov 29, 2007) Dr. Ann Steele has been chosen "Highlighted Scientist for the Year 2006-2007” by the American Heart Association (AHA) Greater Southeast/Puerto Rico Affiliate. She will be featured in the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association 2006-2007 Annual Report. Dr. Steele’s seminal research on cardiac stem cells as a means for heart injury repair was awarded a three year grant by the AHA last summer.

(Posted on Oct 29, 2007) Mackenzie Margaret and Eli Benjamin Byler were discharged from All Children's Hospital late Monday afternoon, October 29. This means that half of Florida's first sextuplets will be home in Wesley Chapel tonight, with the other half growing stronger each day at All Children's Hospital.

(Posted on May 21, 2007) On February 12, 2007, Alyssa Thomas became the second child in Florida to be implanted with a mechanical "bridge to transplant" heart called the Berlin Heart. Special medical silicone tubing or cannulas were stitched into her diseased heart and connected to the EXCOR Pediatric biventricular assist device, which then pumped blood from her heart to her body for the next 75 days until a donor heart became available.

(Posted on Jun 14, 2003) The man considered by many to be the father of modern immunology has died. Dr. Robert A. Good was Physician-In-Chief of All Children's Hospital, Director of the Children's Research Institute at All Children's in St. Petersburg, FL and Distinguished Research Professor at the University of South Florida in Tampa, FL. He died late on Friday night, June 13, 2003 in his St. Petersburg home surrounded by family, including those he counted as his "intellectual children" his students.
