Does Being Overweight Lower the Risk of Getting Pregnant?

I've heard that if you are overweight, you have less of a risk of getting pregnant. Is it just a myth?
- Chrissy*

Obesity can affect a woman's ability to get pregnant, but that doesn't mean obese girls or women can't get pregnant.

The truth is that any girl having unprotected sex can get pregnant, no matter what shape or size she is. If a girl who is obese gets pregnant, she's more likely to have problems during pregnancy. The baby is also more likely to have health problems. If you're concerned about your weight, talk to your doctor.

To reduce the risk of pregnancy and contracting sexually transmitted diseases (STDs), make sure your partner wears a condom every time you have sex.
