FL Groups Get $4.7M for Healthy Start
(Sep 5, 2014; WUSF Radio) | Six Florida groups have been awarded a total of $4.7 million in federal Healthy Start grants aimed at improved maternal health and lower infant mortality rates. All Children's physician Sheila Devanesan said the first priority is to set up pregnant mothers with "medical homes," with healthcare providers they see regularly.
 
Medical students invent foam tool to treat battlefield wounds
(Sep 4, 2014; Bradenton Herald) | Because many of the students have graduated from Hopkins or moved on to other classes, the continued development and testing of the device falls to doctors who sponsored the class project at All Children's Hospital in St. Petersburg, Fla., part of the Johns Hopkins Medicine system and a training site for medics in the Green Berets, Navy SEALS, Army Rangers and Marine Special Forces.
 
All Children’s snags $850K grant
(Sep 3, 2014; Tampa Tribune) | All Children’s Hospital will receive an $850,000 grant to help combat infant mortality. The Healthy Start grant announced Wednesday will help All Children’s to serve about 1,100 people a year, according to a news release.
 
Fishing tourney benefits All Children’s
(Sep 3, 2014; Beacon-Leader-Bee Publications) | The third annual Fireman John Memorial Fishing Tournament is Saturday, Sept. 13. Proceeds help All Children’s Hospital and Florida Safe Pools provide swimming lessons and purchase life jackets for children with special needs.

That includes Dr. Paul D. Danielson, a colonel in the Army Reserve and a pediatric trauma surgeon at All Children's.
