Battle of the Belts Awards Ceremony is May 8

The Trauma Programs at All Children's Hospital and Bayfront Medical Center, the Palm Harbor, Lealman, and Oldsmar fire departments and the Occupant Protection Program at All Children's Hospital have joined together to lead an effort to increase safety belt use, decrease distracted driving, and decrease the number of teenagers injured in motor vehicle crashes. Every year we hear heart-breaking stories of students who die or are seriously injured in a car crash. Often times these deaths and injuries can be prevented.
In Pinellas County, this event is scheduled for the week of March 11-15, 2013. The goal of the campaign is for students to convince peers to ALWAYS wear their safety belts and to put the phone on mute. Your school is bring asked to participate in this fun and educational event by creating a unique campaign for your high school to encourage fellow students to wear their seat belts during every ride in a motor vehicle.
Please mark your calendar for the awards ceremony, which is scheduled for May 6th at the All Children's Hospital main campus. We hope to have every school represented at this ceremony to celebrate your accomplishments.
