Meet our Pediatric Neurosciences Staff


Physicians

Carolyn Carey, MD, MBA

Dr. Carey is Medical Director of the All Children's Neuroscience Institute and Clinical Practice Director of Pediatric Neurosurgery and Associate Director of Trauma at ACH. After a neurosurgical residency at Temple University, Dr. Carey completed her pediatric neurosurgery fellowship at Primary Children's Medical Center at the University of Utah in 1990. She practiced at Primary Children's and was Associate Professor of Neurosurgery until joining ACH in 2001. Dr. Carey has experience in all aspects of pediatric neurosurgery.

She is board certified in both neurological surgery and pediatric neurological surgery. Dr. Carey is a member of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, the American Society of of Pediatric Neurosurgery, the Congress of Neurological Surgeons, and a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American College of Surgeons. She was awarded her MBA in 2000.

Luis F. Rodriguez, MD

After General Neurosurgery training at the University of Michigan, Dr. Rodriguez completed a Pediatric Neurosurgery Fellowship at the University of Utah. He joined our program in 2005. His practice encompasses the entire range of pediatric neurosurgical problems but his main area of interest is the pediatric spine. He is a charter member of the Pediatric Craniocervical Spine Society.

He is a member of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, the Congress of Neurological Surgeons, and the American Academy of Pediatrics. He is fluent in Spanish. Dr. Rodriguez is Board Certified in Neurological Surgery and Pediatric Neurological Surgery.

Gerald F. Tuite, MD

Dr. Tuite was the first neurosurgeon certified by the American Board of Pediatric Neurosurgeons to practice on Florida's west coast. A graduate of Northwestern University School of Medicine, Dr. Tuite completed his general neurosurgical training at the University of Michigan. He then completed a fellowship at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children in London, England, followed by a more specialized pediatric neurosurgery fellowship at Baylor University, where he focused on the surgical treatment of children with brain tumors, brachial plexus injuries and craniofacial disorders. 

Dr. Tuite is board certified in both neurological surgery and pediatric neurological surgery and is a member of all the major neurosurgical associations, including the American Society of Pediatric Neurosurgery.

S. Parrish Winesett, MD

Dr. Winesett's practice is limited to the evaluation of intractable epilepsy for advanced procedures such as epilepsy surgery, vagal nerve stimulators, ketogenic diet, complex medication management and clinical trials. After a residency in pediatric/internal medicine at the University of South Florida, he completed his pediatric neurology fellowship at Vanderbilt University. In addition, he completed a pediatric epilepsy fellowship at the Cleveland Clinical and USF.

Dr. Winesett is an Assistant Professor of Neurology at USF. Dr. Winesett has written multiple academic chapters on pediatric and adult epilepsy.

Mid-Level Providers

 

Buddy L. Davis, PA-C

Before joining the All Children’s Neuroscience Institute in February 2011, Buddy earned his Bachelor's of Science degree from Youngstown State University in 1995 while working as a Critical Care Paramedic. Later Buddy joined his alma mater as Limited Service Faculty from 1997-2001. He then completed his Masters in Physician Assistant Studies at the Medical University of South Carolina, where he worked in general pediatrics before spending three years with the 82nd Airborne Division. He has been a member of American Academy of Physician Assistants since 2006.

 

Debora Ray, ARNP

Debora Ray, ARNP, is the pediatric nurse practitioner for the Epilepsy Program. She received her Master's degree from the University of Florida. She has been employed with All Children's Hospital since 1986.

 

 

Alyssa M. Stroetz BSN, MSN, CPNP, ARNP

Alyssa has been a Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner with the ACH Neurosurgery service since April 2011. She graduated with her Bachelors of Science from the University of Florida in May 2007. She completed the Pediatric Nurse Practitioner program at the University of South Florida in December 2010 with high honors and induction into the Sigma Theta Tau Nursing Honor Society, Delta-Beta at Large Chapter. Previously, Alyssa worked as a pediatric Registered Nurse for three years. She is nationally certified by the Pediatric Nursing Certification Board and a Fellow in the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners.

 

Devon Truong, PA-C

Devon received a Bachelors of Science in Biology and a Bachelor's of Arts in Psychology from the University of South Florida and in June 2002 a Master's in Physician Assistant Studies from the University of Florida. Devon has been working with the All Children's Hospital since August of 2009 and previously with the Center for Pediatric Neurosurgery and Neuroscience for seven years until the physicians of this group began their employed relationship with All Children's Hospital.

Christine Hancock, Sr. Practice Manager

Christine has been employed with All Children's Hospital since August 2009 and previously with the Center for Pediatric Neurosurgery and Neuroscience for three years until physicians of the group began their employed relationship with All Children's Hospital. She has over twenty years experience in healthcare with emphasis in pediatrics. She is a Certified Medical Practice Executive, a Certified Professional Coder, an active member with the Medical Group Management Association, American College of Medical Practice Executives, Neurosurgery Executives' Resource Value & Education Society and the American Academy of Professional Coders. She obtained her Associates and Arts degree in Business Management and Administration and is currently completing her Bachelors of Science in Business at the Warrington College of Business Administration at the University of Florida.
