Katie had trouble eating solid food from the time she was an infant -- but as she prepared to turn five and kindergarten came closer and closer, her normal feedings of high-calorie shakes through a syringe was a problem that needed to be solved.
After trying other feeding programs, Katie's family came to All Children's Hospital and enrolled in the Happy Mealtimes Intensive Feeding program -- the only program of its kind in the Florida. Katie and her mom stayed on campus in the Ronald McDonald house and worked with a team of specialists from various areas of expertise who helped Katie gain the motor feeding skills that she needed. Graduating from the program, Katie was able to enjoy her own birthday cake at her fifth birthday!
Now, Katie is a happy, healthy, normal 8-year old, who rejoins us on special occasions to share her beautiful singing voice. Katie is another in a long line of success stories, thanks to the more than 200 pediatric specialists, and hundreds more specially-trained nurses, therapists and staff at All Children's Hospital.
